To combat forest fire and encroachment threats to the conservation targets, aerial surveillance is conducted by using helicopter in the conservation area annually. It is carried out to ensure the threats to be monitored and taken action based on the reporting of visual sightings.

Aerial Surveillance Activities in 2016

In 2016, aerial monitoring have been conducted in March, April and August. Based on the monitoring in March, 1,200ha of the southern part of FMU 10 was affected with forest fire. The monitoring then continued on the following month (April) to ensure there is no occurence of forest fire in the previously affected area. In August, aerial monitoring was conducted on 22 until 25 which resulting in no encroachment detected in the entire FMU 10 boundaries. Table 2 represents the aerial monitoring activity conducted in 2016.

Aerial Surveillance Activities in 2015

Aerial surveillance was only carried out twice in 2015 (March and December) due to unavailability of helicopter and occurence of haze. Table 1 represents the aerial monitoring activity conducted for the year 2015.
