The timber industry in Sabah was the main backbone to the socio-economic development of the State in the past. For many years in the past, contribution from the forestry sector to the State’s coffer was more than 50% of the State Government’s total collection of revenue. The forestry sector has remained significant even at a much reduced log production level as being experienced in recent years.
